Finance Director Jobs
A finance director, sometimes designated as the chief financial officer (CFO) of a company or public agency, is a corporate officer primarily responsible for managing the financial risks of a business or agency and reports to the chief executive officer. A finance director's job duties include financial planning and record-keeping as well as financial reporting to higher management. A finance director's job also encompasses communication with the analyst community regarding financial performance and forecasts.
The finance director is responsible for areas such as the financial and management reporting of his or her company in addition to the company's treasury operations and internal audit and information technology. Another aspect of the finance director's job is playing a key role in developing corporate strategy. A finance director serves as an internal consultant providing advice, guidance, and support to his or her organization and managing a tightly defined group of specialist functions including strategic planning, tax, treasury, statutory and regulatory reporting, accounting and control, and financial services.
In several financially well-developed countries and regions, including Hong Kong, finance directors are generally qualified accountants. A finance director may have an MBA. In the US business world, a chief financial officer possesses a US accountancy qualification (CPA) and/or an overseas accountancy qualification (ACCA/Chartered Accountant/ICAEW).
