BankingandFinanceCrossing Witnesses Big Jump in Newly Added Financial Jobs

April 08, 2008

Pasadena, CA — In spite of news of layoffs and a looming economic recession, financial professionals don’t have it as bad as many may think, according to BankingandFinanceCrossing (www.BankingandFinanceCrossing.com).

BankingandFinanceCrossing, the financial field’s fastest-growing job board, with close to 50,000 finance jobs, including positions for financial analysts, finance managers, and financial consultants, among others, has found that March 2008 brought more than 15,000 financial jobs. The financial sector is going strong, despite the recent credit crisis.

Supporting these findings, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook projects finance to be among the industries with the largest numbers of new jobs between now and 2016.

Employment in the finance industry is anticipated to grow by 14.4% over the next four years. The “securities, commodity contracts, and other financial investment” sector will see the largest growth, with a projected 45% increase by 2016.

Financial analysts and personal financial advisors will likewise see a significant rise in total jobs — to 544,000 in 2016, a growth of 37%. These types of jobs are also expected to grow at a rate faster than average when compared to other occupations. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects “personal financial advisor” to be one of the top 10 fastest-growing occupations.

BankingandFinanceCrossing is keeping pace with this growth in financial industry employment. In just the past week, BankingandFinanceCrossing has added more than 8,000 jobs. This increase is a good indication that job growth in the financial sector will be strong 2008.
